( from Lonely Planet)
Ever since Errol Flynn cavorted here with his Hollywood pals in the 1930s and '40s, travellers have regarded Jamaica as one of the most alluring of the Caribbean islands. Its beaches, mountains and carnal red sunsets regularly appear in the sort of tourist brochures that promise paradise.
Unlike other nearby islands, it caters to everyone from beach bums to newlyweds: you can choose a private villa with your own secluded beach; laugh your vacation away at a party-hearty resort; or throw yourself into the thick of the island's life while experiencing the three Rs: reggae, reefers and rum

cricket et cetera comments: With the Pakistani cricketers around, playing a lot of inconsequential matches, a mix of the three Rs could catapult some of them into news. Shoaib might be missed, though.

average temperature: 27 degrees C

World Cup Cricket Venues: St. Lucia

St. Lucia is the sort of island that travellers to the Caribbean dream about--a small, lush tropical gem that is still relatively unknown. One of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, it is located midway down the Eastern Caribbean chain, between Martinique and St. Vincent, and north of Barbados. St. Lucia is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide, with a shape that is said to resemble either a mango or an avocado (depending on your taste). The Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet, St. Lucia will host the Group C nations of the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
Average Temperature: 30 degrees C

World Cup Cricket Venues: Trindidad & Tobago

The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the venue for the Group B encounters of the Cricket World Cup, is an archipelagic state in the southern Caribbean, lying northeast of the South American nation of Venezuela and south of Grenada in the Lesser Antilles. It also shares maritime boundaries with Barbados to the northeast and Guyana to the southeast. The country covers an area of 5,128 square kilometres (1,979 sq mi) and consists of two main islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and 21 smaller islands. Trinidad is the larger and more populous of the main islands; Tobago is much smaller, comprising about 6% of the total area and 4% of the population. ( Source: Wikipedia)

Cricket fans would be well-aware of the capital, Port-of-spain. San Fernando and Chaguanas are the other major urban conglomerations. However, if you are going visiting, it's the flora and fauna that you must not miss out on. The archipelago is home to 430 different species of birds, 620 species of butterflies, and 2,300 species of flowering plants and shrubs. Temperatures hover between 26-28 degrees celsius.
